NOTE: New time for Wednesday evening Core Basics yoga: 4:00-5:15 pm

Restorative Yoga:

An active, healing, stress reducing style of yoga which utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses. The use of props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation.

The poses are specifically designed for times when you feel fatigued, weak, or stressed from daily life. These poses also can be useful as a practice when recovering from illness, injury or childbirth.

In Restorative Yoga the spine is flexed and extended in all directions. The connective tissues of the joints are stretched in gentle subtle movements that are held for 5-10 minutes at a time. These poses are recommended as an excellent starting point for beginners. They are also a wonderful complement to any sport that places a great emphasis on the use of larger muscles.

The Restorative Yoga class will combine meditation, breathing and relaxation exercises to leave you deeply relaxed, energized and physically refreshed for the rest of your day.

Tuesday mornings: 8:30-9:45 Restorative Yoga

Friday mornings: 8:30-9:45 Restorative Yoga

Core Basics

We will focus on strengthening the core of the body, increase flexibility, learn breathing exercises, develop new postural patterns of alignment to correct posture, deepen relaxation, learn to focus the mind and practice meditation. Using traditional yoga postures, the goal is to concentrate on developing strength in the pelvis, abdomen, arms and legs. Standing and floor poses will be practiced. Open to new and practiced yoga students.

Wednesday evenings: 4:00-5:15 Core Basics

Post-Natal Yoga (Call to sign up for Pre-natal classes):

In Postnatal Yoga classes, postures, breathing techniques, and meditation offer a practice that supports healing, relaxation, and toning. Mothers may bring their babies for an experience that incorporates yoga and bonding with the baby. These classes are a wonderful way to connect with other new mothers in a supportive and healthy environment. Postnatal classes are appropriate for women from about six weeks postpartum and up until about six months, or when baby begins to crawl. This class is open to new and practiced yoga students.

What we do

We practice "closing" what has been open, and shortening what has been lengthened, the focus is on strengthening the abdominal & pelvic floor muscles, helping the organs move back to their intended place. We continue our focus on belly breathing and relaxation, and also on stretching the upper back and shoulders.

Through yoga and other movements we will:

• Tone the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
• Help bring the uterus back to pre-pregnancy size
• Strengthen the lower back/ stretch the upper back
• Improve circulation and maintain good posture
• Reduce fatigue and increase relaxation
• Create a space of safety and nurturing
• Increase bonding through massage and eye contact
